Propranolol is a beta-blocker used for the treatment of angina, tremors, heart rhythm disorders, high blood pressure and other heart or circulatory conditions. If you have a scheduled surgery tell you doctor about it as you may be required to temporarily stop taking propranolol. Some health conditions may be contraindications, including asthma and third degree heart block. Talk to your doctor before starting to take propranolol if you have low blood pressure, diabetes, heart failure, bronchitis, emphysema, congestive heart failure, kidney or liver disease, thyroid disorder, emphysema. In case you are allergic to propranolol or any of its ingredients it’s not recommended to take this medicine.

Do not stop taking this drug before you discuss it with your doctor. Along with taking propranolol you will have to follow the diet recommended by your doctor and exercise regularly. If you are taking this drug for hypertension, continue the treatment even if you feel well as this condition may not display symptoms. Do not stop taking propranolol suddenly as this may cause worsening of your symptoms. If you are taking this drug for blood pressure you may be required to take it for the rest of your life.
